I haven't had much experience working with watercolors, but I was convinced that this should be a peice of cake. Actually, watercolor has been more of a challenge for me than oil painting. It's all about learning techniques and visualizing details from a far. I always tend to illustrate what I see, which can be very technical when dealing with watercolor because it appears to be easy. When I see watercolor paintings, I see a light brush strokes and more detail to the application of water than color.
This is my before illustration of a portrait I'm working on as of now. It's not fully complete, because I had to stop trying to fix every detail and allow the portrait to dry. Now I can actually see it come to life and sometimes with painting, I have to literally STOP and stand far from the painting to actually visualize the art itself. Starting in drawing and moving to painting has been exciting and difficult, but as I paint more and more, I find that art speaks for itself and sometimes less details is better. Art and painting to me is really just about capturing the expression of your work through colors, illusions, and objects.

P.S. I have to thank my cousin Jamellia Lucas for being my muse for this illustration, she has no clue that I even painted her...lol SURPRISE : )
