Designing is not easy and can be very challenging when you consider the dynamics of fashion. It takes far more thinking than most people would imagine.
So the whole notion of "Fashion is my Passion" can go out the door, when it boils down to the time being consumed and energy it takes to design and construct a garment.
Not every designer is a master at the sewing machine, but it really pays off being fully equipped in all areas of design. The same for illustration, as long as you can pencil in the shape and drape of your garment for your seamstress to understand the fit and wear of your design, than your good to go!
I once applied for fashion design coming out of highschool with no experience at all. That was well over 7 yrs ago, and I have never attempted to try again. Although, it wasn't that I couldn't do it, it was the fear of failure. Now I have given myself a second chance at this competitive sport. I just reapplied to take on an Associates in fashion design. I'm not saying that it means absolutely anything as of right now, but Im just saying it's worth a try. If you ever get in a place where your unsure of what you should do as far as career wise just choose to try what makes you happy. Just by doing that, you may discover that what you thought would make you happy really isn't what it appeared to be. The dedication and hardwork that you put into a 9 to 5 just to get by to survive, should not be ALL that you have to look forward to. I definitely feel like I want more and I'm sure that I'am not by myself! So join me in this blog as I work step by step in preparing my portfolio and awaiting my letter of approval or NOT...!!! This should be fun
